Breaking Barriers

BREAKING BARRIERS IN HISTORY

Freedom 7, May 5th 1961 (NASA)

Overcoming a Physical Barrier

A physical barrier is the "environmental and natural condition that act as a barrier in communication in sending message from sender to reciever." Alan Shepard traveled on the Freedom 7 Mercury spacecraft into space defying the odds of gravity. No longer was their a barrier between space and the United States. This opened the door for new space opportunities and showed America that they can accomplish things that at one point in history seemed impossible.

Did you know Alan Shepard was the only astronaut to play golf on the moon?

Overcoming a Scientific Barrier

The scientific barrier is not necessarily one thing. In this case the barrier overcome was research. Overall since America was able to put a man into space scientific research has expanded immensely. We have been able to put satellites into space, other people, get to the moon, communicate with the other astronauts in space, and so much more. Space discovery has forever expanded and will continue to expand. None of this would have been possible without Alan Shepard and the help of NASA.
